Many people desire to craft and enhance their home videos with professional flair. Whether it’s a memorable event like a prom night or a special driving milestone, creating home videos is a cherished activity. With Windows 10, a hidden video editing tool is at your disposal. This editor allows you to trim videos and even generate slideshows to create dynamic videos. Initially known as the Story Remix app back in 2017, this feature is integrated within the Photos app.

Editing Video Files

To begin editing a video, simply open it within the Photos app by right-clicking on the video and selecting ‘Open with Photos.’ The video will commence playing in the app. To kickstart editing, click on ‘Edit & Create’ at the top, unveiling a range of editing tools. Utilize the trim function to cut specific parts of the video. With trim, mark the portion you wish to keep, adjusting the position using the blue pin icon. Once content, click ‘Save a Copy’ and Windows will preserve the edited version. Feeling unsure? Opt for cancel to revert any changes.

The edited video will be saved in the same location as the original. Further functions under the ‘Edit & Create’ menu offer unique features. For instance, selecting ‘Save photos’ enables you to extract single frames from the video and save them as images on your device. Navigate through frames using the ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ buttons. The ‘Draw’ tool permits freehand drawing on the video, with effects confined to the drawn area, eventually fading out.

Merging Videos and Applying Effects

When crafting a video project, opt for the text or 3D effects features. Custom videos with music can also be crafted using the Photos app. Post creating a custom project, the screen displays the project library and a video preview. Add more photos by dragging them from the project library to your storyboard.

Unleashing Hidden Editing Tools at Your Disposal

Windows offers a variety of editing tools for crafting and refining videos. Whether starting from scratch or converting text and images into videos, the possibilities are endless.
