Mozilla is rolling out the new Firefox 106.0.2 version today to address several bugs in the browser. These bug fixes do not include any security-related issues.

Users can expect their browsers to automatically update to the new version today. If you want to check for updates manually, you can go to Menu > Help > About Firefox to see your current version and perform an update check.

What’s New in Firefox 106.0.2?

The latest Firefox 106.0.2 release focuses on fixing five different bugs. Some of these bugs were affecting new features introduced in Firefox 106, while others were unrelated to the recent update.

Mozilla resolved two issues related to Firefox View (bugs 1792680 and 1794474). Firefox View is a feature introduced in Firefox 106 that enhances Firefox’s usability across various devices. However, these bugs were causing problems with the reload button functionality and sync requests on the Firefox View tab.

Another bug that has been fixed in this release was preventing the browser from opening correctly for users who installed Firefox from the Microsoft Store (bug 1796391).

Users may have also experienced browser freezes under specific circumstances (bug 1793748). In cases where accessibility features were enabled, Firefox could freeze on certain websites like Proxmox sites, requiring users to forcibly close the browser and restart it by killing the main Firefox process.

The fourth bug addressed in Firefox 106.0.2 dealt with a display issue of PDF documents. Mozilla had recently added basic editing support to Firefox’s PDF reader in version 106, but some PDF forms were not rendering correctly according to bug report 1794351.

Lastly, Mozilla fixed the column width of the Notification sub-panel on the Settings page as part of this update (bug 1793558).
