Microsoft recently rolled out Windows 11 build 26120.470 to the Insider Dev channel to address various issues and make enhancements. The update, distributed via KB5037864, is focused on improving the overall experience for Windows Insiders.

A notable addition in this update is a Game Pass recommendation ad featured on the Settings homepage. This ad is aimed at users who are active gamers on their PCs and promotes Microsoft’s subscription-based gaming service, Game Pass.

Game Pass provides a wide selection of games for a monthly fee of $9.99, with a higher-tier option called Game Pass Ultimate available for $16.99 per month. The Ultimate version offers additional perks like access to games on PC, console, and cloud, as well as online multiplayer and EA Play.

The ad is only visible to users logged in with a Microsoft account on Windows 11 Home or Pro editions. It is not clear whether ads will be included on managed devices.

Thoughts on Ads in Windows 11

Windows 11 has integrated more ads throughout its interface, including promotions for services like Microsoft 365. Users have the ability to disable certain ads, such as app recommendations in the start menu, giving them some control over their advertising experience.
