My Opinion Of Smartphones in 2015

With many smartphones being released over the last few months such as the Samsung Galaxy S6, Sony Xperia Z5, LG G4 and so on, it is becoming increasingly difficult to pick the best smartphone out of these because, in essence, they are all very good smartphones. However, it is not usually the positives we judge smartphones by nowadays. More so, we judge smartphones by the negative features they have or the features they are simply missing. Putting this into perspective, here is my opinion on the smartphones released in 2015 with what I think is good and bad about them in a short summary.

  • Moto G – This is a super cheap budget smartphone with stock Android so, for many people, this will seem like the perfect smartphone to use as a daily driver. However, the screen is only 720p meaning you can just about see each individual pixel and the processor is not as fast as flagship phones – over time, the performance decrease will be more noticeable.
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 – I think Samsung has done a great job on their flagship phone for 2015. It has all the features you could want on a high end smartphone and has the most beautiful screen. the only criticism is that the storage cannot be expanded with micro SD and the battery is not removable any more – this will disappoint many people.
  • LG G4 – LG have really upped their game with the G4 by making it have just about every feature such as micro SD slot, removable battery, great camera, NFC, a lovely looking phone with a leather back and a much improved UI. At the moment, I cannot see much wrong with the G4 so if you know anything wrong with it, leave a comment below!
  • Apple iPhone 6 – Whatever Apple release, it is always going to be popular. The iPhone 6 does not disappoint with upgrades to the screen size and just about everything else as compared to the 5s. With the iPhone, the question is whether you want iOS or Android as your operating system? For most, committing to one is a difficult choice.
  • Sony Xperia Z5 – This smartphone has everything plus a 4K screen. Yes, a 4K screen – how is that even possible!? The phone seems too good to be true with a 2 day battery life which will completely put Samsung to shame with their below par battery life on the S6 and S6 edge. The only thing that will put me off the Sony Xperia Z5 is it’s price and the UI Sony have put over Android.
  • Google Nexus 6 – This is the most recent phone released by Google (with the previous being the Nexus 5). The main advantage to this phone is that it runs stock Android and gets updates sooner before any other phone, which many people love. However, it is huge and has no expandable storage.

Smartphones are getting better. But, most still have their flaws…
