# Google Released Second Security Update For Google Chrome This Week
Google has rolled out a new security update for its Chrome web browser to fix three security vulnerabilities. This update follows closely on the heels of the Chrome 106 release, which addressed a total of 20 security issues in the browser.
The latest security patch is now available for users. While Chrome typically updates automatically, it is advisable to manually install the update sooner rather than later to safeguard against potential security threats.
To install the update manually, simply type chrome://settings/help in the browser’s address bar or navigate to Menu > Help > About Google Chrome. This will display the current version of Chrome installed on your device and run a check for any available updates, including the new security update.
After successfully installing the update, Chrome Stable should reflect version 106.0.5249.91, and Chrome Extended Stable should display the same version number, both of which can be verified on the Help page.
Google has identified two of the security issues as having a high severity rating, the second-highest classification after critical. One of the vulnerabilities was discovered internally by the company and has not been disclosed to the public.
Here are the details of the high-severity security issues:
– [$7000][1366813] High CVE-2022-3370: Use after free in Custom Elements. Discovered by Aviv A. on 2022-09-22
– [$10000][1366399] High CVE-2022-3373: Out of bounds write in V8. Discovered by Tibor Klajnscek on 2022-09-21
While Google hasn’t mentioned any active exploits, there is always a possibility that they may exist but have not yet been detected or could emerge following the release of the security updates for Chrome.
Users of Chrome can refer to the official announcements for Chrome Stable and Chrome Extended Stable for further information, which include a link to the update log detailing the changes made in this update.
It’s worth noting that other browsers based on the Chromium platform may also release updates to address similar security issues reported for Chrome.
