Mozilla is set to launch Firefox 107.0.1 today. This latest version of Firefox is an update that focuses on fixing a browser hang, resolving a compatibility issue encountered on specific websites while in private browsing mode, and more.
The update will be automatically pushed to most Firefox installations. To expedite the process, Firefox users can manually check for updates by going to Menu > Help > About Firefox.
Upon selecting this, users will see the current version displayed on the page and Firefox will then check for any available updates and download them if found.
Updates in Firefox 107.0.1
One of the main fixes in Firefox 107.0.1 addresses a browser hang that occurs on Windows 11 version 22H2 systems. This issue stemmed from a new feature called Suggested Actions introduced by Microsoft in that OS version. The feature prompts users with specific actions when copying information to the clipboard, such as phone numbers, dates, and times. For Windows 10 version 22H2 users, copying phone number links could cause browser hangs which this update resolves.
Additionally, an accessibility bug in the private browsing mode related to sites with anti-adblocking services and Enhanced Tracking Protection set to strict, which affected the French site tf1.fr, has been fixed.
Firefox 107.0.1 also addresses three other bugs:
- A text overlapping issue in the Settings menu for certain languages.
- Restoring the missing Color Manager access option in the browser for some users.
- Fixing an issue that hindered the usability of developer tools when alert dialogs were displayed in the browser.
The previous version, Firefox 107 Stable, was released around two weeks ago. The upcoming major release, Firefox 108, is scheduled to launch on December 13, 2022.
