Windows update error 0x800a0007 can be fixed often enough by the same steps as error 0x800A138F. Often times you will receive this error if a firewall application or some odd settings are blocking Windows update from accessing the servers.
Akamai, once again, may be the cause of the 0x800a0007 issue. Akamai serves ads and as such many ad blocking programs out there will modify your HOSTS file to block the servers.
Go to the machines hosts file, open it in notepad, and cleared it out. Reboot, and try to update again. Hopefully windows update won’t give you an error again.
The hosts file is in a few different locations:
Windows XP – WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERSETC
Windows 2K – WINNTSYSTEM32DRIVERSETC
Win 98/ME – WINDOWS
Not having English as your default language evidently causes the 0x800a0007 update error sometimes.
If that does not help you, try the instructions on the 0x800A138F page. They are very similar, but more in-depth.
