why i just hear a lot of beeps when i open my desktop computer? all connections is properly connected, but then i observed that it has no display except the “VIDEO CABLE IS NOT CONNECTED”.But its already connected, I look at the connection at the pins of the cable it happens that it lacking a 1 pin. i noticed some that other of the cable are much damage but the computer is still running. so how can fixed this problem? Is the video cable could be replace? Thanks!
If you’re hearing only beeps when you try to turn on your computer, it’s the BIOS giving you an error code. It is likely that your video card has died on you, or has become mis-aligned in the slot. This is causing a display error that the BIOS is catching and since it obviously can’t display anything it has to beep the error to you.
Try re-seating the video card. If it’s integrated, you’ll likely want to try putting in a cheap PCI video card and seeing if it’ll come up after that. Also, try plugging your monitor in to another computer and make sure it works with the other PC. No use trying to get display from the video card if the monitor is fried.
The BIOS will also beep if the RAM is jacked. Reseat the RAM chips as well, as they may have become badly connected for one reason or another.
Where you say some of the cables are badly damaged is concerning. Was the case sitting open and a pet chewed on them? Was a cable sitting in the path of a fan for an extended period of time?
Oh, and the monitor cable missing a pin is normal. D-Sub connections routinely don’t have that pin.
If the monitor cable is damaged then try hooking up a completely different monitor to your PC and see if that works. The BIOS may be freaking because the monitor cable is shorting out the video card.
