I’m trying to load my mp3 player,but every time i plug it in,a message says usb malfunctioned and windows doesn’t recognize it. then i click on that screen, it says usb hub controller 8 ports. One of those ports says unknown device,no drivers are uninstalled for this device.. i have done everything from uninstalling the device and reinstalling it, still doesn’t work.. i reboot computer lost all my file and folders.. started all over again and still the same problem is there.. my copier also doesn’t work..
If you are trying to hook up the MP3 player through a USB hub then the first thing I would suggest is to try it directly to the machine. If not, and Windows is incorrectly identifying things then it may be an issue with your motherboards chipset drivers.
If you can find out what brand of motherboard you have and get the drivers for it, that may fix your problem.
The other possibility is that the MP3 player is a USB 2.0 device and you are trying to hook it up to an older v1 port. In theory it should work anyway, only slower, but that’s not always the case.
