I have a Toshiba 5500 Lap Top,when I insert the recovery disk the “welcome to recovery screen and info comes up”, however it asks to press f1 to ok the execution but will not do any thing.
Is there a way to boot the recovery other than this?
Some computers today actually have the recovery “disk” on a separate partition of the hard drive. You generally get to this by pressing F10 or some other key. If you have something like this on your computer then when you first turn it on there should be a bit of text that says something to the effect of “Press F10 for boot options” or “Press F12 to start Toshiba recovery”.
Since you say you are running a laptop computer I’d doubt they did that. Notebook hard drives are smaller than their desktop counterparts and because of that space is at a premium.
If you can’t get the recovery disk provided to work, I would suggest getting ahold of a Windows CD and reinstalling using that. Your Windows key should be printed on a sticker on the bottom of the notebook.
Drivers for your hardware may be a bit tedious to get, but they are out there.
