Sprint DSL connection fails

Sprint has sent me a new dsl box, a new way to connect to the back of the computer but I still lose the connection.

Name: Nancy

Hi!! Please help!! Everytime I’m on line, even for a short amount of time, my internet connection goes out. Sprint has sent me a new dsl box, a new way to connect to the back of the computer but I still lose the connection. I have to keep turning the box off, wait a few seconds, turn it back on then I’m okay for awhile. Any suggestions?

Difficult to say for this one, especially if they sent out a new DSL box. First, I’d go through the house and make sure that all of your phone jacks that use that same phone line have the filters on them. If one line doesn’t, that may be the issue. Most of the time it’ll be more of an issue for the phone user (all the static noise) but occasionally the DSL modem just can’t handle it; especially if you’re far from a C.O.

Other than that, perhaps try connecting from the DSL modem to the wall with a new phone line. Often enough the line itself has a bad connection in the heads on either side and doesn’t get a good signal.

If after that it still drops all the time (and it’s actually the DSL connection that is going, not the computer dropping the network connection) then you may have to get Sprint to come and inspect your lines. That will be a difficult one, because they just won’t want to do it. Even if they do send someone then it’s likely they will tell you that the line is fine, or there’s nothing they can do. (That’s assuming they are as big a pain in the ass to deal with as QWest is over on this side of the country)

If none of that works, you can always get cable. 🙂
