Samsung Release the Galaxy S8 with Bezel-less Screen

Only a few days ago was the Samsung Galaxy S8 released and already it is causing quite a lot of hype in Image result for s8the smartphone market. Not only has it promised to live up to the expectations those have associated with Samsung, but it is looking to be a complete package, progressive from the S7 and something that is looking very likely to be one of, if not the, best smartphone of 2017. With this, here are a list of the most exciting specs the S8 brings.

  1. Bezel-less screen. The main selling point to the S8 is the huge screen Samsung has managed to fit into a relatively normal sized smartphone. They have achieved by making the screen curved on both sides and reducing the bezels significantly at the bottom and top.
  2. Face scanner. Samsung has inbuilt a face scanner, even though facial regonition has been a feature on Android phones for a few years now. However, unlike Android’s inbuilt facial recognition, Samsung’s is much quicker and, at first glance, better – those that have used it claim it is so quick and good that they are considering using the face scanner to unlock their device rather than the fingerprint sensor on the back.
  3. Bixby. Bixby is Samsung’s take at artificial intelligence, which is there to compete against Google Assistant, Amazon Echo and whatever Apple bring forward to the party this year too. Although Bixby has not been extensively tested, it is currently looking very similar to Google Assistant, which begs the question why would you not use Google Assistant (which is already very good) to a new, and potentially not as good, Bixby?
  4. 3.5mm Headphone Jack. It is crazy that it is 2017 and the 3.5mm headphone jack is becoming a feature to want – I guess this is what happens when Apple removes something to promote the future too early.
  5. Always on screen. Due to the fact that the screen is an AMO-LED panel, individual pixels can be turned on and off, which allows for the screen to be permanently on, as what Samsung calls ‘Always on screen’. This allows certain things, such as the clock, date, notifications and the home button, to remain on and use minimal power.
  6. That screen. Although this is mentioned already in the first point, it is definately worth mentioning again. The LG G6, when it came out, made it clear this was one of LG’s best smartphones and had a screen that put competiting smartphones, such as the Google Pixel, to shame. However, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has put the LG G6’s screen to shame and that’s within the space of a month. The screen on the S8 is truly amazing, almost giving the user the impression that they are literally picking up a screen.

Ultimately, Samsung have done a great job with this phone. Will it be successful is a different question, especially with the highly anticipated iPhone 8 coming out to celebrate 10 years since the first iPhone.
