Mozilla is releasing Firefox 125 on the stable channel today with a host of new features and improvements. Some highlights include the ability to highlight text in PDFs and enhanced tab indicators in Firefox View.

Highlighting Text in PDFs

The latest Firefox update introduces a feature that allows users to highlight text in PDF documents. Users can select from five different highlight colors and adjust the thickness of the highlighter. This tool is great for annotating content in PDFs, and users can easily modify or remove highlights as needed. The feature is gradually rolling out to users and can be tested in Firefox Nightly.

Pinned Tabs and Tab Indicators in Firefox View

Version 125 brings improvements to Firefox View by displaying pinned tabs in the Open tabs section and introducing tab indicators. These indicators show icons for tabs with media playing, making it convenient to mute or unmute tabs across different windows. Tab indicators are also available for bookmarks and tabs with notifications.

Address Bar Enhancements

The Address Bar now supports tab-specific Container add-ons for better organization. A new feature, URL Paste Suggestion, provides autocomplete results for URLs when the user focuses on the address bar with a URL in the clipboard. Users can quickly navigate to a URL by clicking on the suggested link, streamlining the browsing experience.

Save Addresses Feature

Firefox 125 offers a feature to save address data after form submissions, enabling autofill for future address form submissions. This functionality is currently available for users in the U.S. and Canada with specific language settings.

Security Enhancements

The update includes enhanced security measures such as proactive blocking of potentially harmful downloads and the option to enable Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) in line with system proxy configurations.

Radio Buttons Behavior

Improving usability, Firefox now allows users to navigate radio buttons more efficiently by restricting Tab key navigation to the first option, requiring arrow keys to cycle through choices.
