Is the Nintendo Switch Worth Buying?

If you enjoy playing video games, there have been mainly two companies you usually` look to buy a console from.Image result for nintendo switch The first being Sony with the Playstation 4 and Microsoft with the Xbox One. Nintendo has always seemed to be a third choice for the family, with fun animated games for which the younger generation and families would enjoy playing – this was definately the case with the Wii. However, after Nintendo released the Nintendo Switch, is it worth buying? Here are the main pros and cons to the switch to help you decide on purchasing it or not.

#1 The Switch is a Games Console and Portable Games Console

The main attraction to the Switch is the fact that it can ‘switch’ between being a games console for the living room and than a portable games console for on the go. If you look on the market at the portable games console industry, there are not many contenders to go up against the Switch for which can be on par with the Switch in terms of graphics and enjoyment out of games. The Sony PS Vita died a few years ago and the Nintendo DS range was aimed at the younger generation.

For this reason, could the Switch be the first console to take living room graphics to a portable device? From first impressions, it is, although at a reduced 720p resolution as compared to what it can achieve when docked: 1080p.

#2 Zelda, Mario Kart, Sonic…

The Nintendo Switch will not have games frmo the likes of Call of Duty, James Bond and Need for Speed etc. Instead, the Nintendo Switch will sport games from the likes of Zelda (Breath of the Wild), Mario 8, Super Mario Kart and Sonic. For a lot of people, this will be enough for them to buy the Switch.

On first impressions as well, these games look really good. Zelda is good enough to buy the Switch just for that game whilst both Mario games look very good too.

But, 3rd Party Games are Rare

Although there are some great games from Nintendo for the Switch, there is a lack of 3rd party games which has made the whole amount of games available to the Switch limited to say the least.

When the Wii U was released, it had a lot of 3rd party partners to make games for such as Assassin’s Creed, NFL, Batman and more. However, these partners started to lose interest in the Wii U platform, which could provide an argument that the same could happen for the Switch.

The Graphics are not Class Leading

If you want to get the best grahpics, you will have to go with either Sony or Microsoft to get anything above 1080p resolution. As it stands, the Switch can only play games up to a 1080p resolution when docked in the ‘living room’ mode. For anything on the go, it can manage 720p. For many gamers, this may not be enough for a 2017 games console.
