Blue Screen – Computer Won’t Boot

Name: Steve

I keep getting an error message that says:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and it will not let me boot up. I have tried to boot in safe mode and it keeps giving me the same error.

Please help.

Thanks

Steve

Did you try everything laid out in the other article? If not, then I’d go through those steps first. If that doesn’t work, then you may have to roll your registry back to a previous one. It’s possible that somehow a reference to a driver or something got messed in the registry and now it’s trying to improperly load it.

Before any of that I’d first suggest unhooking all extra components from the machine. Only leave the keyboard, mouse, and monitor hooked up. Try to boot then. If it still does it, you may want to try pulling the internal extra cards (assuming you know which ones are extra) and try booting then. Much of the time this will allow you to boot, then you can rehook things one-by-one to figure out which was the culprit.

If that doesn’t work, try doing a HIVE file restore and see what happens.
