3 Technologies To Get Excited About in 2016

Happy new year everyone! It’s the start of 2016 and it is also nearing the start of CES 2016, the Consumer Electronics Show. At the rate that technology increases year on year, it is pretty daunting and scary to think what type of technology will be on our wrists, in our pockets and in our homes at the end of 2016. However, that will not stop us from guessing! Therefore, here are three technological things to get excited about with reasons why.

#1 Virtual Reality

Let’s be honest. Up to now, virtual reality has seemed to have been around for a year or so but only in the shadows. Nothing that successful has been truly launched to the market and the headsets that have launched to the market seem to not offer the full experience of virtual reality.

With Oculus releasing their first headset to the public this year and Sony, HTC, Microsoft and others also doing the same, I think it is about time everyone starts to get seriously excited about VR! The way I am looking at it is with the same type of buzz the first iPad received when that first came out… I really do think virtual reality is going to be the next big thing for gaming, watching films and more.

#2 Smartwatches

When smartwatches were first launched, it seemed everyone was more excited for the second generation of smartwatches rather than the first generation. This is because for new emerging markets, the first generation of most devices will have problems, flaws and negatives points associated to them that will all be ironed out in the next generation of devices. Yes, Motorola have released the Moto 360 2nd gen already. But, Sony, who had what could be seen to be the most successful and highly rated smartwatch to date, the Sony Smartwatch 3, have not yet released their second generation. As well as that, I have not even mentioned Apple yet!

#3 Smart Homes

Just like with VR, there seems to be a market for smart home technology but it has not really gone mainstream yet. I guess a reason for this is because people are not entirely convinced to spend hundreds on technology they still do not know how it will benefit them. 2016 should be a year for prices to plummet for smart home technology so we can expect to see more smart technology in our home: especially in our lounges and kitchens. Not only that, the likes of Amazon and LG are making a big push for smart home technology such as buttons to click to instantly buy a product around the home when it has run out and with LG’s fridges that have smart technology in them to link with smartphones. Therefore, it is not the small companies that are pushing for smart home technology, it is the big ones…
