3 Google Adsense Alternatives

For many bloggers out there on the webosphere (if that is a word?), the main source of income will be most likely from the publisher side to pay per click advertising and, in particular, Google Adsense. Why? Because it is the one PPC program with the most advertisers and, of course, you cannot really go wrong with something made by Google. However, if you are not too sure about using Adsense or want to see what the competition is, read on! Here are some of the alternative programs website owners can use to monetize their websites to Google Adsense.

Infolinks (In Text Advertising)

Infolinks and in text advertising works by automatically creating links within content and applying adverts to them contextually so that when the web user hovers over a linked text within the content, a pop up near the text appears showing an advert similar to that of the text. Although in text advertising is good in gaining a high CTR, the CPC is awfully low which makes it a poor alternative to say the least. However, it can be used alongside Adsense which is something to ponder over…

BuySellAds (Banner Advertising)

The most known and best alternative to PPC, banner advertising and BuySellAds works by selling advertising unit blocks per 30 days at a fixed price. It is generally considered a good alternative to Adsense because:

  • BuySellAds only take 25% of earning unlike Adsense who take 32% for content based adverts.
  • You have more freedom with what adverts appear in the blocks.
  • You can set your own prices for advertising unit blocks per 30 days.

However, there is always a risk that you do not sell your advertising unit blocks which means you will not be making any money at all! However, like in text advertising, BuySellAds and banner advertising can be used alongside Adsense which is, again, something to ponder rover…

Yahoo Bing! Network

If you want an alternative to Adsense but stay within PPC, then the Yahoo Bing! network is probably your best bet. This is because PPC works best when there are a healthy amount of advertisers and publishers alike. With many networks, the balance is not correct (like with Ad Dynamo). There are a few that have enough advertisers and publishers to get it right and the Yahoo Bing! network is one of them. However, a word of warning is that the Yahoo Bing! network cannot work alongside Adsense because Google have made it quite apparent that other forms of advertising are allowed on a site that uses Adsense: as long as it is not PPC contextual. If it is, do not be surprised to get yourself banned from Adsense!
