3 Areas That Will Revolutionize Future Technology

quantum-computing.jpg

It is understandable to know that technology is progressing at a rapid rate of knots. For example, it was only around a hundred years ago that cars were invented and now we are on the talks of cars that will drive us around automatically. The future for technology is looking exciting and very bright indeed. However, what areas of tech will revolutionize our lives and technology the most? Here is a countdown of the top three areas that will revolutionize our futures the most.

#1 Artificial Intelligence

It was only a week or so ago that artificial intelligence beat the world champion of the ancient game ‘Go’ – what made this so exciting was the fact that there are millions upon millions of different ways the game could be played out, hence why artificial intelligence was needed to beat the world champion.

Although artificial intelligence is being used for trivial things such as board games etc., the future of it is looking very promising. Artificial intelligence has the potential to make everyone’s lives much easier and continually push the boundaries of what the human race can do and achieve – let’s just hope it does not end in a similar situation as it did in the Terminator movie series…

#2 Quantum Computing

You didn’t think this would be second, right? But, it has every right to be second. Quantum computing is the name giving to computers that use quantum physics to hold information. As it currently stands, computers hold information in 1s and 0s using resistors. With every component getting smaller to make computers have more processing power and faster, we are rapidly approaching the limit of how small a resistor can get: to the point that quantum physics is coming into contact with how computers process information. Instead of having something set to just 1 or 0, quantum physics enables a bit to be set to 1 and 0 at the same time – it is only once you look at the bit’s information that the computer gathers whether it is 1 or 0.

Basically, quantum physics will enable computers to become much faster. By much faster, I mean literally thousands of times faster – when this will happen depends on how small are computer components can get without interfering with quantum physics.

#3 Batteries

Batteries are a major talking point of any portable device. It seems whatever devices that is released, the battery life of it always seems to be a huge talking point.

With battery technology, there are two exciting futures for it:

  1. Self generating batteries – These are batteries that will charge themselves up, by converting the kinetic energy of the user using it to electricity. This will be most effective on devices such as smartwatches.
  2. Much more energy denser batteries – The main weight of smartphones are the batteries. By increasing the energy density of the battery will mean not only will smartphone and tablet’s battery lives increase, but we could also see a reduction in the weight of devices too.
