Once renowned for its great handheld gaming devices, Sony ceased their sales back in 2011 after launching the PS Vita, which happened to be their last handheld console. Recent reports from Insider Gaming indicate that Sony may be reentering the handheld gaming market with a new gaming console.

Authored by Tom Henderson, the Insider Gaming report reveals Sony’s plans for a comeback with a handheld console codenamed ‘Q Lite’.

As per the report, this upcoming handheld console will differ from earlier Sony devices as it will allow users to stream their PS5 games directly onto the handheld device.

This particular feature aligns with Sony’s remote play feature, which already enables users to stream their PS5 games on laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

The new handheld console is anticipated to resemble the PS5 controller, featuring an 8-inch touchscreen LCD along with a volume button, audio jack, and built-in speakers.

While the Gaming Insider report lacks details regarding the specifications and capabilities of the device, it is hard to speculate on its functionality.

There are rumors that this new Sony handheld console could hit the market by the end of 2024 and may coincide with the launch of the much-anticipated PS5 Pro.
