Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a game-changer, reshaping the world as we know it. It has become an integral part of our lives and will continue to transform industries in the coming years. AI is predicted to have a significant impact, similar to the way automation has revolutionized industries through the use of robotics and self-operating machines.

According to a recent report by Goldman Sachs, it is estimated that AI could replace 300 million workers. In this article, we will highlight 10 occupations that could potentially be rendered obsolete by AI in the near future.

Accountants

The next generation of AI is expected to possess super-intelligence and the ability to handle various financial tasks. Rather than being trained on a wide range of data, it will follow more targeted pathways. Companies are currently working on training AI systems to perform basic accounting duties.

Several accounting firms, including Safe, are already leveraging AI to automate their processes. As these systems become more advanced, they will gradually reduce the need for human input. This automation will lead to the replacement of entry-level accounting jobs, leaving auditors and overseers who primarily monitor the AI’s work.

Content Moderators

Emotional social platforms like Facebook and Twitter employ content moderators to filter out offensive images, videos, and other irrelevant content before it becomes public. AI algorithms already pre-screen a significant portion of the content, but final decisions are made by humans.

As these algorithms improve, they will reduce the need for human workers, and AI will become increasingly accurate in content moderation.

Legal Assistants

AI has made significant advancements in various fields, but its ability to make decisions and stand in front of judges is still uncertain. However, lower-level legal professionals in law firms may feel vulnerable. AI and machine learning have shown competence in producing citations and summaries, posing a potential threat to these roles.

AI has the capacity to replace human lawyers and potentially improve overall efficiency and accuracy.

Proofreaders

AI models like ChatGPT possess the intelligence to generate readable text, including poems and prose. AI can serve as an effective proofreader, capable of identifying and correcting human errors. Many software applications, such as word processors and Google Docs, already use AI to detect and correct spelling mistakes. While proofreading has traditionally been done by humans, machines can handle large datasets more intelligently.

Traders

AI can efficiently perform trading tasks, leveraging sophisticated algorithms. Entry-level stock traders in major banks often spend significant time modeling predictions in Excel and managing data.

Although trading is currently done by humans, AI can perform these tasks more efficiently, reducing the potential for errors and enabling more complex comparative modeling. While higher-level management may still be necessary, lower-level traders should prepare for the possibility of being replaced by AI.

Transcribers

Voice recognition algorithms and translators have made significant strides in recent decades. While voice recognition systems were initially introduced in 1952, modern advancements have greatly improved their language understanding capabilities and ability to provide accurate and fast audio transcriptions.

Transcriptions play a critical role in various professions and organizations, including journalism and law. AI-powered tools can greatly assist in generating the desired content.

Graphic Designers

AI models are now advanced enough to generate images in a wide array of styles. Graphic design requires creativity and an understanding of principles such as colors, contrast, composition, and readability. It presents an ideal opportunity for machine learning tools to experiment.

Imagine providing text to AI and witnessing its ability to produce thousands of layouts for billboards, magazines, or other visual materials within seconds. Once a design is chosen, the software can easily flow the content into a final print-ready file. This automation can provide multiple design options to work with.

Customer Service

Text-to-speech software has revolutionized customer service by providing accurate and scalable answers to queries. AI surpasses traditional call centers in terms of accuracy and scalability, while also reducing costs associated with agent salaries and staffing.

Many companies already utilize AI to handle customer queries, and AI has proven to be a highly efficient call agent.

Soldiers

AI has also started making its mark in the field of military operations. Technological advancements have enabled the use of machines and autonomous weapons to protect countries.

Self-directed munitions are not a new concept, but recent advancements have allowed drones and other weapons to make independent decisions and engage in battles without human oversight. It is even predicted that future conflicts, such as World War III, could involve machine fighting.

Writers

AI is a powerful tool for generating relevant content. It relies on algorithms to produce authentic and accurate written material.

ChatGPT and other AI bots are prime examples of this capability, generating authentic content such as poems, prose, and other written contexts.
