Corsair has established itself as one of the heavy hitters in the ‘all-in-one’ liquid cooling market. Its ‘H’ series of liquid coolers have gained a positive reputation among enthusiasts. The Corsair H100i is the latest flagship model in this series. Its previous version, the H100, was loved by PC gurus and had excellent cooling performance. Since then, there have been a number of improvements which can make the H100i the new champ in All-in-One liquid cooling solutions.
Design Improvements
The copper block and the integrated pump unit have been redesigned. It comes with pre-applied thermal paste and a new magnetic top cover to keep the retention bracket in place during installation. The pump and LED lights are powered by a SATA and a 3-pin connecter. The two ports above can be used to power up to four fans using splitter cables. That aside, the Corsair H100i also comes with a data port for the integrated link monitoring and control system.
The rubber hoses are flexible and wider in diameter than earlier models. These hoses connect the block with the 240mm radiator. The H100i comes with two corsair 120mm fans. These are attached to the radiator to push air through at an RPM (Rate per Minute) of 2700.
Performance
The magnetic top cover makes it very easy to install. However, before installing the block, make sure that the fans are properly attached to the radiator and that the power cables are connected. Once attached and running, the H100i will provide excellent results. With an AMD 8-core processor, the temperatures did not go above 95 Fahrenheit. Once the CPU was overclocked, the results were still just as good with a maximum temperature of 114 Fahrenheit. Up to four fans can be installed at once, but make sure to keep them at low speeds. Putting them on higher speeds can cause noise and discomfort.
Corsair continues the trend of making powerful, quiet and, as always, user friendly Hydro series All-in-One liquid cooling systems.
