The Nintendo Switch has been with us for over a year now and it is still an extremely popular games console for the consumer to buy, with it’s switchable docking and portable gaming experience. With it being over a year old, it is one of the best times to buy the console. Prices of the Switch should have dropped slightly whilst the past year has seen a ton of games come to the console. With this, here are some must have Nintendo Switch games every Switch owner should have for 2018, in ranking order.
#1 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Zelda’s Breath of the Wild was one of the first games to be released alongside the Switch to showcase the capabilities of the console, and what an entrance it made. Ranked by many websites as the best game ever, many critics stated that the game was so good, it was worth buying the Switch just to play the game.
Breath of the Wild features a gigantic map to explore, with beautiful graphics and story mode that allows the user to simply roam and explore: something many games struggle to achieve. With Zelda, Nintendo have hit it right on the nail.
#2 Mario Odyssey
As much as Zelda was ranked as a great game, when Mario Odyssey was released in September 2017, it managed to break records as to be an even better game than Zelda, with even higher rankings from gaming websites.
Mario Odyssey takes Mario to a whole new level, with a story mode to defeat Bowser, many many locations and maps to explore and even integration with 2D Mario from the past. What is refreshing about Mario Odyssey is that once you beat Bowser, the game does not end. In actual fact, it is just the beginning…
#3 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
It is one of those things – you cannot own a Nintendo product and not buy Mario Kart. Mario Kart 8 came to the Switch and revolutionized Mario Kart. With maps from the past and all new exciting maps, the ability to play the best version of Mario Kart both in the living room and on the go was something that has never happened before, making it an instant success and a must have game for the Switch.
#4 Splatoon 2
Splatoon is a great original game by Nintendo where the objective is to fill the map with the colour of your team, using paint guns. With this, there are a lot of customization, such as different costumes and guns, along with intriguing tactics to make sure your team wins – if you want a family friendly version of Call of Duty, this is probably your best bet!
Snipperclips is a fun new way to take advantage of the Switch to play in single player mode or with others, typically making it a fun and laughable game to play with the family.
The game is not a ‘full blown game’ where the price reflects this at half the cost of all of the above. However, there are not many games that get you thinking and are as fun as Snipperclips is for the Switch.
