Ten years ago, it would have been quite a rare occurrence to have more than one email account. Now, take me for example, I have over 7 different and active email accounts I manage on a daily basis! This makes it clear that there is a market to advertise using emails. However, should you invest your time and money into email marketing? Before making any real decision, have a look below at the main pros and cons to email marketing which could potentially affect your decision to start email marketing or not.

Increases Your Brand Awareness

Just like with any form of marketing, it will help to increase your brand awareness: even if the web user does not open your email! The great thing about email marketing is that they will still be able to see the email and your brand without opening it in their inbox. So, even if they do not engage, your brand awareness still increases.

 

Quick and Easy

Email marketing, once the actual email you want to market has been created, is relatively quick and easy to market. They are sent to your whole audience in seconds and, what more, email marketing is extremely reliable – the percentage of web users nowadays that do not receive emails that were sent to them is extremely small.

Since you have an audience to market too, you will start to build a relationship with them if you market emails to them on a reoccurring basis. This will help to maintain repetitive sales and update web users of new products or any updates in general for that matter.

Difficult To Get Web Users To Engage

The main hindrance to email marketing is to get the web user to click onto the email and for them to then read and engage with the email. This is where you might want to include a call to action in the subject of the email to attract the web user’s attention.

Sending the email once it is created is quick and easy. But, before that, creating the email is time consuming and could cost too. The thing about emails in email marketing is that it is like creating a brand new landing page for every email you make – this is no easy task to do continuously.

 

Reputation May Suffer

If your audience is not engaging, you may find that your reputation (if you had one) will start to suffer as a result. There is nothing worse than having tens of tens of emails every day due to email marketing. If yours is one of them, this might frustrate your audience so make sure you only perform email marketing in small doses!
