Microsoft Reveil the Xbox One X at E3 2017

E3, the largest technology show of 2017 for gaming, is fully underway and already there have been some Image result for xbox one xvery large announcements – the most noticeable of these announcements comes from Microsoft who unveilied the more powerful variation of the Xbox, labelled the Xbox One X. With this, here is everything important you need to know about the new games console from Microsoft.

Ability for 4K (Ultra HD) Games

In some aspect, this is Microsoft playing catch up to Sony who have the Playstation 4 Pro already capable of playing 4K games for quite some time now. However, it will be a welcome for Xbox fans to finally have a games console that can take advantage of TVs that 4k screens, which are becoming more and more readily available at affordable prices.

Smallest and Most Powerful Xbox Ever

Microsoft are proud to label this the most powerful Xbox ever, simply due to the fact it can run 4k games at 60 frames per second, which could potentially make it one of the most powerful consoles ever to date. As well as this, the actual footprint of the Xbox One X makes it also the smallest ever Xbox made too.

Specs: Xbox One X vs Playstation Pro

Of course, since the Playstation Pro was released in November of 2016, it has been on the market for quite a while now. However, with the introuduction of the main competitor to the Playstation Pro, it would be interesting to see just exactly how the two games consoles battle against eachother in terms of the specs of each:

  • Ram – Xbox One X has 12GB compared to the Playstation Pro’s 8GB.
  • Processing power – Xbox One X has 6 teraflops of processing power compared to the Playstation Pro’s 4.12 teraflops.
  • Blu ray 4k? The Xbox One X can play 4k blu ray videos unlike the Playstation Pro.

Price: $499 (£449)

The price of the new Microsoft Xbox One X will start at just under $500 for the US and under £450 for the UK. Considering the Playstation Pro is currently at £350 in the UK, this does seem a little steep for the typical gamer.

Should you buy it?

The strategy Microsoft have implemented for their console system is that every game that comes out can be played on the Xbox One as well as the Xbox One X in 4k. With this, $499 for a new console that doesn’t bring anything new except for 4k resolution and 60 frames per second does seem a little steep.

For this reason, for the typical gamer, it probably is not worth the upgrade. For those that have 4k TVs, surround sound and want the best experience possible, it is probably going to be a good investment for the long run.

However, as previously mentioned, the PS4 Pro is already doing 4k gaming and has been for 6 months. It is also quite a bit cheaper than the Xbox One X as well. So, although the specs of the PS4 Pro are slightly less than that of the Xbox One X, it might still be good enough to win Microsoft fans over following the latest Xbox release.
