iPhone Sales Declining! What Does Apple Need To Do?

apple-iphone-6-4.jpg

An interesting story has emerged over the last week that the Apple iPhone sales have falling well short of Apple’s expectations to the point that it is going to be the first time since the original iPhone was launched back in 2007 that sales have not increased year on year. This seems to be quite a big deal but is it really? As well as this, what does Apple need to do to rectify the problem and get back on track for the sales of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus?

Is this a big deal?

It could be. This could be the start of the end for Apple. The problem is that there are many other companies offering just as good products as Apple for nearly half the prices. For example, an ultrabook can be bought for much cheaper than a Macbook Air, the same can go for the iPad range compared to what is on the market in terms of Android tablets. For the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, well the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge are at least a few hundred dollars cheaper than the iPhone 6 still…

However, it may not be a big deal. Considering that iPhone sales last holiday were up 46% compared to the last year was huge and well beyond expectations. There are only so many people in the world and I think Apple is getting to that point that most of the world now owns some sort of Apple device – there are currently 1 billion actively used Apple devices worldwide…

What does Apple need to do?

There are two possible roads Apple can go down based on this information:

  1. Do nothing and carry on business as normal – this is probably what Apple are more likely to do. The iPhone is still the all time best selling mobile out there so there is little reason for Apple to panic. After all, the sales of the iPhone have not really decreased – it is more so that the rate of expected increase for sales this year have decreased.
  2. Address the issue by offering a more sell-able iPhone for this year – this could be to make the iPhone cheaper, more appealing to consumers with more features so that more people are likely to buy the next iteration of the iPhone than what occurred last year.

Ultimately, it was bound to happen that iPhone sales would start to decrease. The questions was ‘when?’

Foreshadowing the next few years, I am sure this won’t mean much to Apple as they will still be selling millions upon millions more units than the next best on the market…

Therefore, I’ll go back to the first question asked, what does this mean? Not much really. Be that as it may, any story involving Apple is a story so it is no surprise that the internet has gone wild and frantic over such information.
