Search engine optimisation (better known as SEO) seems to be something that, if performed correctly, can have many benefits to a website. This is why so much time is put into SEO. It can help advertisers save money with their PPC campaigns if contextual organic traffic is already coming to the landing page and can help improve the whole performance of the whole of the website. For this reason, here are nine quick and easy tips anyone can use that will improve their SEO.

  1. Content Content Content – Make sure that your content is unique, high quality and, at least, over 300 words long.
  2. Linking is good – The more times you can get your website linked by through other websites, the better.
  3. Be aware of guest blogging – Although the point of guest blogging is to get a link to your site on another website, recent Google algorithm updates have punished those that have guest posted in the past. It is best to do all your posting of articles on your own website to be safe.
  4. It’s all about linking – The best way to get links to your website is to link to others and create blogger buddies. Get friendly with others and share links between each other as it will benefit both of you in the long run.
  5. Caption images – By adding a title and caption to all of your images means your images will be better processed by Google and other search engines for image search.
  6. Pagerank does not mean much – Yes, it is good to have a high page rank. At the same time, it is not the end of the world if your pagerank is woefully low. As long as your getting organic traffic consistently, do not be too worried about the pagerank of your website.
  7. Natural fluent language is best for SEO – Believe it or not, search engines can tell when you are trying to cram loads of keywords into a short amount of space – this will not do too well organically. The best articles are those that sound like you are naturally speaking: almost like a conversation between you and the web user.
  8. Keep your article’s title short and sweet – Long titles for articles do poor on search engines especially for the reason that Google and others will only show the first snippet of the title if it is too long. Keeping your article short, sweet and to the point will do your article well.
  9. Quality, not quantity – Some bloggers think if they post loads of articles it will get them traffic. This is WRONG. It does not matter how many articles you post if they are all rubbish. Quality has always got to take priority over quantity if you want to do well organically.
