3 Areas Tablets Can Still Improve

j5fe49.jpg

So after looking into three areas both smartphones and smartwatches can still improve, it is time to look at the three areas I feel tablets can still improve. With the first tablet be released by Apple around five years ago, a lot has occurred in this market. But, there are still areas that many consumers still complain about with their tablets that need improving. Therefore, without further ado, here are three areas that tablets can still improve.

#1 Performance

This is the biggest area tablets need to improve. When you first buy a tablet, the performance is fine until around 6 months later when the performance just starts to take a turn for the worse. I can understand that the electronic parts in tablets do decay and become worse over time…but so soon?

Android tablets tend to get clogged up with junk data and become so sluggish after a year that I am forced into buying a new tablet. I did own a few iPads but became frustrated with them too, since after updates they would also tend to go slow too.

Maybe both Apple and Android purposely make tablets slower after a year so that it entices you further into buying newer versions of their tablets? Just a thought…

#2 Weight

Although tablets are super light nowadays, I do not think they are light enough yet. For example, I currently own the Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 Pro tablet (quite a mouthful, I know)! Being a 12.2 tablet, I cannot ever hold it with one hand for more than 20 seconds or two hands for more than 2 minutes. It is just too heavy. Therefore, although tablets such as the iPad Air 2 are super light, there are still many tablets out there that are just too heavy.

#3 Replaceable Batteries and Micro SD Slot

Ever since Apple released the iPad, it seems to have become the norm to not have replaceable batteries and no micro SD card slot: if they do, it is given as a bonus. This is wrong! Every tablet should have both replaceable batteries and micro SD card slots. However, many manufacturers choose not to include these features into their tablets because:

  1. By having a replaceable battery means the battery life will not die down over the years like batteries tend to do. Therefore, it will not make consumers as enticed to purchase and upgrade their tablet if the battery life is still good on it.
  2. By having a micro SD card slot means manufacturers cannot charge a premium for more storage capacity. The most known for doing this is Apple who charge £80 a time to double the memory inside an iPad.

It is annoying because I know these areas seem to be areas that are struggling to improve. But, maybe one day, there will be a tablet that will have improved in all three of these areas. If there is one, I will be buying it straight away!
