Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Twitter, pulled a prank on April Fool’s Day by changing the platform’s iconic blue logo to an image of a dog associated with the popular Dogecoin cryptocurrency.

Users quickly noticed the change to Twitter’s logo, which replaced the usual Bluebird with a Shiba Inu dog, a symbol often linked to Dogecoin in memes.

In his typical style, Musk shared a meme on Twitter to announce the logo change.

The official Dogecoin account humorously tweeted, “Very currency. Wow, Much coin. How money. So Crypto.”

While Musk did not provide a specific reason for the logo change, many believe it was part of the April Fool’s Day joke that Twitter couldn’t execute on the exact date as intended.

This logo switch occurred shortly after Musk sought the dismissal of a lawsuit filed against him by Dogecoin investors alleging that he ran a pyramid scheme with the cryptocurrency to profit from it.

According to the lawsuit, Musk allegedly supported Dogecoin despite knowing it had no value since 2019, with the intention of benefiting from its trading activities.

The legal complaint accused Musk of leveraging his influence as the world’s wealthiest individual to manipulate the Dogecoin market for personal gain.

The controversy around Musk and Dogecoin intensified following his appearance on Saturday Night Live, where he referred to Dogecoin as a “hustle,” leading to a sell-off of the digital currency.

Dogecoin, introduced in 2013 as a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, saw a surge in value from the logo change on Twitter, rising from US$0.079 to US$0.094, marking its highest value since November 2022.

With this logo alteration, Dogecoin’s value surged significantly on the market, reflecting the influence of branding and celebrity endorsements on cryptocurrency prices.
