Twitter recently introduced an update that made the ‘For You’ timeline the initial page for iOS users.
Responding to ongoing criticism, Twitter has announced the removal of the ‘For You’ timeline as the default view on all devices.
In January, Twitter began promoting the ‘For You’ timeline as the default for both mobile and web users. While users could easily switch to the ‘Following’ timeline with a simple click, the need to do this every time they opened Twitter was a point of contention.
The ‘Following’ timeline offers a more personalized experience by displaying tweets from accounts users follow, fostering better engagement.
In response to feedback, Twitter initially adjusted its web version to set the default timeline to whichever the user last viewed. This meant that if a user had the ‘Following’ timeline open when they exited Twitter, it would be the default view when they returned to the platform.
After positive feedback on the web update, Twitter has now extended this feature to both Android and iOS platforms.
