Toshiba Excite Go – Cheaper Is not Always Better

Nowadays, it is quite easy to find a cheap and affordable tablet on the market. However, you do have to keep in mind that the low price sometimes means you have to compromise on quality and features. Keeping this in mind, the Toshiba Excite Go is a perfect example of how cheaper is not always better.

Design
The tablet is narrow with a bright 7-inch display with a textured back which can feel slippery at times. Even though it is inexpensive, it does not appear cheap at all. The tablet has been designed with a sturdy plastic body. Moreover, it weighs no more than 0.75 pounds and features a slim silver trim around the bezel. You can find the volume rocker and the headset jack at the top while the speaker is located on the bottom edge.

Features and Specifications
The display supports a resolution of 1024×600 pixels which is quite low compared to devices in the same price range. However, the tablet is the cheapest you will find and runs on a 1.3GHz Intel Atom quad-core processor. It comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage space which can be expanded via a microSD card. Additionally, it features a primary VGA camera without a secondary camera which means you will not be able to making video calls. The tablet runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Toshiba has not baked any new apps for this device in particular but a lot of bloatware comes pre-installed and can be annoying as you cannot remove it.

Conclusion
Costing no more than $100, the tablet fails to provide anything out of the ordinary. It can prove to be an excellent option if you wish to gift it to a child who wishes to do nothing more than play casual games. But it is still a sturdy device and is arguably sufficient for basic tasks one performs on a tablet.
