Tahir Ahmed has been appointed as the new CEO of SEARLE following the retirement of Syed Nadeem Ahmed. The pharmaceutical company disclosed this leadership change in a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday.
As detailed in the PSX filing, “We hereby notify that Syed Nadeem Ahmed has retired from The SEARLE Company Limited and has accordingly relinquished the office of CEO with effect from July 1, 2025. The Board of Directors has appointed Tahir Ahmed as CEO of the company with effect from the same date.”
This decision solidifies a leadership transition that has been developing over the past year. Tahir Ahmed, now stepping into his role as CEO, previously held the position of Managing Director (MD) under a board-sanctioned succession plan and has dedicated over 25 years to SEARLE, serving in various leadership roles. His substantial expertise in the industry is expected to steer SEARLE’s continuous growth in both local and international markets.
In the meantime, Syed Nadeem Ahmed will remain involved with SEARLE’s Board as an executive director and will also serve as a senior advisor to the board and management, helping to ensure a smooth transition while making use of his extensive knowledge for strategic initiatives.
Established in 1965 as a private limited company, SEARLE has since transformed into a public limited entity. Its primary operations focus on the manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceutical, consumer health, and nutritional products.
In 2023, SEARLE, a subsidiary of International Brands (Private) Limited, achieved a significant milestone by securing approval from the UAE ministry to register its manufacturing facility in the Middle East, highlighting its ambitions for international expansion.
With Tahir Ahmed as the new CEO, the company appears well-prepared to build on its legacy while exploring new growth avenues within the pharmaceutical sector.
