Samsung has officially revealed that its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series will feature Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. TM Roh, president of Samsung Mobile, suggested that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be equipped with this remarkable processor. Although he did not specifically refer to the Galaxy S25, his remarks have raised expectations that at least one model in the series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite presents considerable enhancements compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 utilized in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, offering 40% more powerful GPUs and a 35% improvement in ray tracing capabilities, which is beneficial for gaming and multitasking. Additionally, it achieves a notable 44% increase in power density, allowing users to experience high performance while ensuring battery longevity.
This chip also features a new NPU that boosts AI-related tasks by 45%, thereby refining the overall user experience with the Galaxy’s AI features. Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Elite includes an advanced cognitive AI image signal processor that enhances picture quality and facilitates intelligent image processing, including real-time scene improvements and photo editing.
Samsung has been working on the Exynos 2500, which was initially planned to launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series. Nonetheless, recent reports indicate that yield rates for this 3nm chip are facing challenges, which could impact production levels. This situation might compel Samsung to depend solely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the entire Galaxy S25 lineup or consider MediaTek for the base and Plus variants.
While there is no official confirmation regarding this potential change, Samsung is mentioned as one of Qualcomm’s partners expected to unveil Snapdragon 8 Elite devices in the near future, suggesting that this chipset will significantly influence the Galaxy S25 series, whether across all models or just in the flagship variant.
Anticipated Release Date of Snapdragon Chip
The Galaxy S25 series, set to showcase the new Snapdragon processor, is projected to be launched in early 2025. This release is expected to deliver considerable advancements for Samsung smartphone enthusiasts.
