The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) along with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has successfully conducted a raid targeting illegal SIM Card distributors.

The raid took place in Mingora Swat. Both the PTA Zonal Office Peshawar and the FIA Cyber Crime Circle Peshawar participated in the operation.

The target of the raid was a mobile company franchisee suspected of distributing illegal SIM cards. They were allegedly using the guise of BISP disbursements to collect subscribers’ thumb impressions.

A similar operation was carried out by the PTA Zonal Office & FIA Cyber Crime Circle Gujranwala in Lahore, Gujranwala, Pasroor, and Narowal targeting various mobile company franchisees involved in illegal SIM card distribution.

PTA seized a significant number of BVS devices, SIM cards, and a bank meant for BISP disbursements from both locations.

These raids are part of PTA and FIA’s joint efforts to curb the illegal distribution of mobile phone SIM cards. Further investigations into the cases are being conducted by the FIA.
