The Home Department of Punjab has enhanced the management of weapon licenses by introducing a digital system that allows residents to perform tasks such as license transfer, renewal, and the issuance of duplicate licenses online.

According to the department, individuals can now request transfers of their weapon licenses and obtain duplicate copies through an online portal. Additionally, they have the capability to sell their current firearms and renew their licenses across Pakistan without needing to visit government offices.

This digital initiative aims to reduce the need for physical interactions by offering a straightforward electronic submission process for all required documents and fee payments. This advancement simplifies the process, helping applicants save both time and effort.

Steps for Applying for a Weapon License

Individuals looking to apply for a weapon license should follow these steps:

  1. Complete the Application Form: This form can be downloaded from the official website of the Punjab government.
  2. Submit Required Documentation: Include a copy of your Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), two recent passport-sized photographs, and, if applicable, a copy of the National Tax Number (NTN) certificate for taxpayers.
  3. Submit the Application: Applications can be filed online through the Punjab government’s portal.
  4. Undergo Verification: The relevant authorities will verify the application.
  5. Receive the License: Upon successful verification, the license will be issued as a secure smart card.

The department noted that this online system was developed in accordance with the Punjab Arms Rules 2023, in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). This initiative is designed to improve the transparency and efficiency in the management of weapon licenses.

All deputy commissioners across Punjab have been instructed to inform the public about the new online platform. Applicants seeking to modify their weapon licenses are encouraged to take advantage of this system for a more efficient experience.
