LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expanded the scope of the “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” initiative, now providing free internet access at over 230 sites across the province.
The initiative is designed to transform Punjab into a center for information technology, guaranteeing that all residents have easy access to the internet.
Currently, the complimentary Wi-Fi service is available at 200 locations in Lahore, 10 in Kasur, 15 in Sheikhupura, and 5 in Nankana Sahib. Additional cities benefiting from this initiative include Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur.
Since its inception on June 16, the program has achieved notable success, with 7.7 million users consuming 111 terabytes of data in the first three months. The average availability of primary channels stands at 98.7%.
During a media briefing about this initiative, a representative from the Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) emphasized that it not only improves educational opportunities but also aids individuals looking to start businesses and engage socially.
