President Arif Alvi envisions significant progress for Pakistan on a global scale through the utilization of information technology, positioning the country among the world’s key players.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Alvi shared these thoughts during the Digital Government Summit in Islamabad.
Highlighting the wealth of information available online, the President emphasized the vast improvements in communication brought about by technology.
He noted that despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it underscored the crucial role of the Internet in fostering connections and bringing people together.
President Alvi stressed that information technology is paving the way for a new era of innovation.
He called for a shift from traditional development projects to focusing on the intellectual growth of human resources.
Minister for Information Technology Syed Amin-ul-Haque expressed the government’s readiness to embrace innovations for enhancing governance.
Highlighting achievements, the Minister mentioned that Pakistan’s exports reached 2.1 billion dollars last year and set a target of 3.5 billion dollars for the upcoming year.
The Minister of Federal Education underlined the rapid adoption of technology in education post-COVID-19, with efforts to expand internet access underway.
In his address, Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati emphasized the potential for technology to benefit the railways sector and increase revenue through gradual digitization efforts, aiming for a 25 percent revenue boost from freight trains.
