In the previous month, the pilot batch pre-orders for the PineTab quickly sold out within three days. As per the PINE64 June blog post, customers who ordered the PineTab anticipated its shipment to commence in the final week of July.
Regrettably, a recent update on PineTab reveals that the shipping schedule has been postponed by an additional week. Lukasz Erecinski from PINE64 explains that this delay is due to the decision to replace the LCD panel driver, which is nearing its end-of-life (EOL).
Therefore, the manufacturing of PineTab is still ongoing, and the fully assembled tablets are set to be sent out from the production line around August 6th or 7th. Following the updated timeline, PineTab shipments are expected to kick off in mid-August, most likely between August 17th and 21st.
The delay aims to ensure that the hardware is more perfected for the early adopters. On the software front, the default Ubuntu Touch OS already facilitates Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.
