Grand Theft Auto is a well-loved gaming series with a dedicated fan base. The anticipation for the next installment, GTA 6, is high among fans. Various leaks and speculations have been circulating, keeping fans intrigued. However, those who were hoping for a special 10th-anniversary release in September of this year may need to wait a bit longer.

GTA 5 was launched in September 2013, making September 2023 its tenth anniversary. In February 2022, Rockstar Games declared that they are actively developing a new version in the series. While many fans desired a launch to coincide with the anniversary, a recent leak suggests otherwise.

A trusted GTA source, Tez2, hints that the game is targeting a holiday release in 2024. However, it’s important to acknowledge that numerous delays have already pushed the release date several times. Therefore, there’s a chance that the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 might be postponed further and potentially occur in 2025.

Tez2 also suggests that the developers might trim down content originally planned for the main game to expedite the release. The removed content could be introduced later as DLCs. This differs significantly from the approach taken with the predecessor, GTA 5. While Grand Theft Auto 5 continues to receive ongoing updates for its online component, the single-player mode has not seen any new content since its debut a decade ago.

A credible source, Insider Gaming, has also verified that this leak aligns with their information. They anticipate that Rockstar will only release more official details closer to the end of this year

According to Insider Gaming’s insider information, one reason for the lengthy delay is Rockstar’s intention to only launch GTA 6 on current-gen consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. To ensure a successful release, they want to guarantee that the player base on these platforms can support millions of units. Therefore, they plan to allow time for existing fans of the franchise and newcomers to acquire the latest consoles before unleashing the game.

This decision is based on past sales data and other factors. For instance, GTA 5 was initially released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 shortly before the new consoles hit the market. Subsequently, the game was re-released for newer consoles a year later. This strategy led to remarkable success, making it one of the best-selling games since its launch.

Conversely, GTA 4 was released early in the lifecycle of PS 3 and Xbox 360. At that time, a significant player base had not been established, contributing to the game’s significantly lower sales compared to GTA 5. Even its forerunner, GTA San Andreas, outsold GTA 4 and remains a fan favorite today.

So, if you were eagerly anticipating playing the newest GTA this year, you may have to delay those plans. It’s likely that the game will only be unveiled late next year or possibly in 2025. We anticipate more updates on this highly awaited release.
