LAHORE: Sher Afzal Marwat, a former member of the PTI, has ignited new debate over Imran Khan’s mobile phones, claiming that the stolen devices were provided to General (r) Faiz Hamid. These claims introduce a fresh perspective to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the disappearance of Khan’s phones, an issue that first emerged during the PTI’s Sialkot rally in May 2022.

In an interview with a private media outlet, Marwat stated that the investigation into the missing phones leads back to Shahbaz Gill, who was formerly a special assistant to the prime minister and a close ally of Imran Khan. Marwat contended that Gill, who was serving as Khan’s chief of staff at that time, allegedly took Khan’s phone and delivered it to General (r) Faiz Hamid.

This allegation follows previous reports that indicated Khan’s mobile devices vanished under mysterious circumstances, raising alarms about potential breaches of sensitive information. Given Khan’s significant role, the loss of his phone poses considerable security risks, with concerns that crucial data may have been exposed.

Marwat further claimed that upon discovering the theft, Imran Khan dismissed Gill from his responsibilities and distanced himself from him. Additionally, Marwat asserted that Khan directed Gill’s removal from the party’s political committee, although some PTI leaders purportedly ignored this directive.

In reaction, Gill dismissed the allegations, mocking Marwat and the host discussing the claims on social media. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he humorously suggested that they should retrieve the phones from General Faiz’s residence, which fueled further discussions online regarding the incident.

With a series of conflicting narratives emerging, the mystery surrounding Imran Khan’s phone continues unresolved, prompting many to question the true story behind this notable incident.
