LG G6 Review: A Worthy Challenger

LG G6 is the latest flagship phone announced by LG in February during the Mobile World Conference held in 2017. It is a worthy contender amongst the smartphone flagship devices for the year and holds up to its expectations with its great design and exceptional performance.

Design and Build Quality

The design of the phone is a complete overhaul with what the G5 used to be. LG has ditched the modular design for this phone, which was one of the key selling points for its predecessor. The phone has a full aluminum body with a 5.7-inch HD display and an 18:9 aspect ratio to provide extra vertical room on screen. The front and back of the phone are both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass for extra protection for those thin bezels.

Features and Specifications

The G6 sports a Snapdragon 821 processor, which is surprising considering the latest Snapdragon 835 was already released and expected in all the flagship smartphones for 2017. The phone has 4GB RAM, a 3300mAh non-removable battery and comes in two storage variants of both 32 and 64 GB supporting expandable storage up to 256 GB.

Camera Quality

The G6 has two impressive 13MP rear cameras for both wide angle and standard shots. The standard version is equipped with optical image stabilization. The cameras can easily record 60 fps Full HD videos and 30 fps in Ultra HD and can capture beautiful shots with exceptional quality. LG has also focused on the build quality rather than aesthetics and therefore have got rid of the camera hump on the back of the phone.

Software

The G6 comes with Android Nougat 7.0 and a friendly LG user interface packed with great features. The G6 software is a complete revamp of the G5. All the custom apps have been updated for a better user experience since there is more room to use on the display.

The G6 is without doubt a worthy challenger amongst the top flagship phones for the year 2017 and has been released in March.
