After the pact between Pakistan and India to implement a ceasefire and the reopening of Pakistani airspace, flight operations at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) continued to experience disruptions on Monday. Multiple international airlines, such as Saudi Airlines and SriLankan Airlines, canceled flights, leaving many passengers stranded.
Several flights from AIIA, particularly those to and from Jeddah, Kuwait, and Colombo, were significantly impacted. For example, Saudi Airlines canceled flights SV733, SV737, SV739, and SV3735 on the Lahore-Jeddah route. Jazeera Airways also halted its services between Kuwait and Lahore, specifically flights J9 501 and J9 502, while SriLankan Airlines suspended its operations connecting Colombo and Lahore, affecting flights UL153 and UL154. Airport officials urged travelers to remain in touch with their airlines for updates on rebooking and rescheduled flights.
In contrast, operations at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport returned to normal following the reopening of airspace after the ceasefire agreement. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed that airspace was fully accessible for all flight types as of Saturday. This development followed a series of cross-border attacks and rising military tensions between Pakistan and India, culminating in both countries agreeing to an immediate ceasefire.
The ceasefire announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump, which was positively received by both countries, marked a significant milestone in efforts to alleviate ongoing tensions.
