The social media platform Instagram, a subsidiary of Meta, is currently testing a new feature known as the ‘Social Library.’ This forthcoming addition is designed to gather all posts and Reels that a user has engaged with, including reposts, likes, and saved content. The announcement about this feature emerged from Alessandro Paluzzi, a well-known developer and leaker.
Paluzzi provided a screenshot that suggests the possible functionality of this new feature, which appears to act as a dashboard, offering users a straightforward method to access various items. The “Social Library” would allow users to search through media shared in chats, their own archives, and previously liked posts—all in one centralized location.
The screenshot includes a magnifying glass icon, implying that users may have the ability to navigate through this unified content library, simplifying the process of revisiting Reels and other shared materials on Instagram.
What is the anticipated release date for Instagram’s Social Library feature?
The expected timeline for the launch of Instagram’s “Social Library,” which is said to still be in development, remains unknown. So far, neither Meta nor Instagram has issued any official statements regarding this potential feature.
It’s crucial to remember that not all functionalities seen during alpha or beta testing phases will necessarily appear in the final product, so this information should be approached with caution.
In addition to the “Social Library,” Paluzzi has also revealed other leaks indicating that Instagram is working on a feature that would allow users to share comments individually on Threads, Meta’s text-focused social app.
