Google Meet has unveiled two significant upgrades aimed at enhancing the user experience during video conferences, particularly focusing on custom backgrounds. The platform has introduced a new image generation model that is expected to deliver marked improvements in visual quality and provide a more accurate representation of user preferences.
In addition to the enhanced image generation capabilities, Google Meet now presents an array of new preset styles for users seeking background inspiration. Options include a range of imaginative settings such as a professional office, an upscale living room, a snug lounge, a sunny beach, a whimsical castle, and even a futuristic spaceship. These choices allow users to express their personality and style while maintaining a polished appearance in meetings.
These background features are being rolled out gradually and will be available for Google Workspace plans, including Business, Standard, Plus, and Enterprise. It’s important to note that organization administrators need to enable these features before users can access them.
In conjunction with these enhancements, Google Meet will also introduce an automatic framing tool across all Google Workspace plans. This new feature is designed to help center participants on screen during video calls, ensuring they are properly positioned and framed. The goal is to improve virtual interactions, making them more engaging and effective.
For users who previously purchased the Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, or AI Meetings and Messages add-ons, the new features will be available at no additional cost. As demand for effective video conferencing grows, Google Meet aims to foster a visually appealing and user-friendly environment for remote communication.
