Google has rolled out an update to its Gemini Live platform that introduces fresh features for Gemini Live Video and Screen Sharing. These enhancements enable more interactive experiences with the AI, allowing for real-time engagement through the device’s camera, akin to Apple’s Visual Intelligence.
The revised Gemini Live now supports “free-flowing, hands-free conversation” with the AI in 45 different languages. Users can obtain instant information by aiming their camera at real-world objects and asking questions, as the AI constantly analyzes the environment and responds to verbal inquiries without the need for users to take typical photos.
The new screen sharing function allows individuals to share their phone screens via Gemini, making it easier to inquire about specific content within various apps or on websites. Google’s seamless integration of these functionalities underscores a user-friendly approach to utilizing AI in daily tasks. Demonstrations of the features are available on Google’s blog.
As reported by Tom’s Guide, while these advancements may not be revolutionary for the tech giant—competitors like Apple and ChatGPT have been offering similar capabilities for some time—they still present an attractive option for Google users.
Currently, this update is available for the Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25. Users with other Android devices will need a Gemini Advanced subscription, which costs $20 per month, to access these features. Google has yet to announce when these functionalities will be available for free on all devices, but users can check their access by looking for the live video and screen sharing icons in the Gemini app.
Additionally, Google has launched AI Mode for users in the United States.
