Reports suggest that Google is developing a child-friendly version of its AI chatbot, Gemini. An APK teardown performed by Android Authority has revealed several strings in the Google app, indicating that this edition will be tailored for younger users. This variant is set to include features specifically designed for children, addressing a variety of tasks.

The code unveils elements such as a welcome screen aimed at younger audiences, along with essential features of the new Gemini iteration. This version will allow children to create stories and seek help with their homework, among other functionalities.

This forthcoming version is expected to incorporate improved safety measures, fostering a more secure interaction for minors, and adhering to Google’s strict privacy policies related to data handling. These safeguards are crucial, emphasizing the importance of data protection in interactions with children.

At present, Google maintains robust content guidelines for teenagers using the original Gemini app, promoting a safe environment by automatically providing guidance on responsible AI practices. It is likely these policies will be expanded to include the upcoming “Gemini for kids,” thereby enhancing protective measures for younger users.

According to Android Central, Google has a long-standing history of developing child-centric features, including recent updates to Family Link and the launch of Google Wallet for kids. The company has also previously partnered with Samsung to create child-friendly devices, such as the Galaxy Watch designed for younger audiences. This background makes it quite plausible for Google to effectively release a specialized version of Gemini for children.

While there has not yet been official confirmation regarding the rollout of Gemini for kids, the recent findings indicate that this project may soon become a reality. It may not be long before children begin utilizing AI assistance for their educational endeavors.
