The highly-anticipated release of the latest version of ChatGPT by the end of 2022 has made a significant impact on the tech world. With Microsoft’s substantial $10 billion deal, a surge in website traffic, and now the introduction of enhanced AI capabilities, ChatGPT and its developers have witnessed remarkable growth.
Adding to its array of features, ChatGPT now boasts internet browsing capabilities, made possible through new ChatGPT plugins. These plugins enable ChatGPT to tap into external databases and other online knowledge sources, enhancing its functionality.
Currently in its Alpha stage, these plugins will initially be offered to users and developers on the waitlist, with a limited release to select developers and ChatGPT premium subscribers. Eventually, these features will be rolled out on a larger scale, including API access.
In addition to the plugin release announcement, OpenAI revealed that developers will soon have the opportunity to design and publish their own plugins compatible with ChatGPT.
“Today, we are commencing a gradual rollout of existing plugins from our early collaborators for ChatGPT users, starting with ChatGPT Plus subscribers. We are also introducing the capability for developers to craft their own plugins for ChatGPT,” stated OpenAI in its official blog.
