3 Ways To Increase Your Website’s Ranking on Google

The biggest traffic source for the majority of websites out there is from search engines and it is great for so many reasons. You don’t have to pay for it, it is consistent and brings in extremely contextual traffic to your website. For this reason, people are always trying to find new ways of increaing their website’s rank for the big search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. Fear not, my friend. Here are 3 ways you can increase your website’s organic ranking.

#1 Optimise Your Site For Mobile

Google recently made clear that website’s that are not optimised for mobile traffic (in the sense that they do not have mobile themes) will naturally be ranked lower in mobile search engine results than websites which do. This does make some sense but it does mean that to make the most out of increasing your website’s rank for mobile search results, make sure you have a mobile theme for your website.

For Blogger websites, Google provides a set list of mobile themes you can use which you can simply click to activate. For WordPress users, there are thousands of mobile themes to choose from – some free and some not.

#2 Longer Articles Are Generally Better

There is a correlation between the length of an article and how well it ranks on search engine results. The shorter the article is, the less content there is for Google to process. This means Google has less of an idea about what your article is specifically about, causing your article to rank lower. The longer the article, the more content there is to process and the better Google has about what the content is really about, enabling them to rank it to more specific search results. As a rule of thumb, articles of 500+ words are a healthy size. Beyond 1000 are the articles that perform the best organically. However, if you do choose to write long articles, make sure they are structured and broken up into paragraphs with headings to improve readability and help search engines process different parts of the article with different levels of importance. For example, ‘#2 Longer Articles Are Generally Better’ will have more importance to Google when processing this article than the content below it.

#3 Use Images in Articles

Most bloggers will write a high quality article and publish it without any images, why? If you include a new unique image with your blog post, you are opening your article not only to every search engine out there but also to every image search engine out there too. It should become a norm that bloggers should include at least one image with every article they publish. Not only is it good for organic health, it also will help to reduce the bounce rate by breaking up the content with something a bit more pleasing to the eye.
