It has been an argument that has gone on for quite some time. Which platform is better? Google’s Blogger or WordPress. In truth, it really depends on what type of website you want to run and your budget. Blogger is the free version. However, it is quite restricted when compared to WordPress. Therefore, overall, WordPress is probably going to be the better choice for bloggers to use. Here are the main reasons why Blogger is just not as good as WordPress.

 

#1 You Don’t Own the Website

The biggest problem people have with Blogger is that the servers you upload your content to are not actually owned by you but Google instead. This means that they have the power to delete your content, change it, do what they like (not that they will, but they can).

This is why WordPress is a better solution to blogging. Although there will be a fee associated with the platform, at least you can create your own hosting so that you own 100% of all your website and content and have complete power over it too.

 

 

#2 No Access to Plugins

Blogger is a blogging platform…and that is just about it. Nothing really more to say, nothing less.

WordPress, on the other hand, has an open source market for anyone to make plugins for websites. Therefore, if you want a spam filter, it is there. If you want a SEO plugin to help the healthiness of your website, it is there to install. There is a plugin for just about anything and the vast amount of them are also free too. So not only does WordPress give you full control of your website, it makes the running of your website easier too.

 

 

#3 Design

Blogger is good in terms of the design. But, when you compare it to WordPress, it is left in its tracks. Yes, I know this is a subjective point of view. But, WordPress uses a dashboard and sidebar similar to how apps use it on iOS and Android. There is a reason why apps do this – because it works! Therefore, if Blogger wants to keep up to date in terms of design with their main competitor WordPress, they may want to start thinking about changing the design to something similar to WordPress.

 

 

#4 Blogger Themes are Not as Good

Above all, the main reason why Blogger is not as good as WordPress is because of the themes that you can use for Blogger websites as compared to WordPress websites. There really is no comparison.

This is because most websites use WordPress. Therefore, web developers will create themes for WordPress websites as the market for them is much larger than Blogger websites. For this reason, the themes that you can buy and download for WordPress websites are by far much better, so much more optimized and more pleasant to look at than any Blogger theme that there has ever been.
