The Main Limitations Associated with SEO

Search Engine Optimisation ‘SEO’ is a great tool to use as a blogger as it an significantly increase your website’s traffic and the overall healthiness of it too. Already on TweaksForGeeks.com, we have many articles which explain SEO and how someone can go about implementing SEO onto a website. However, we have never really gone into detail of the main limitations of SEO – by this, the drawbacks or negative points to SEO because, at the end of the day, if SEO is that good, it would be used as the main source of traffic generation instead of others such as PPC advertising. Therefore, without further ado, here are the main limitations associated with SEO.

#1 Results take Months

The main problem people face with SEO is that the results take months to become noticeable. This is because it takes time for the crawl robots of search engines to pick up newly created content and index it into the search engines. It takes time for search engines to rank your results and it takes time for people to search for your article and click onto it. Therefore, you can expect to see results around 2-3 months later.

#2 SEO is Risky

SEO, in layman’s terms, is all about creating unique and quality content to gain traffic from search results and improve your website’s search ranking too. This is all based on the ‘rules’, if you will, that search engines set out as to what they deem to be good and high quality content. The problem with this is that search engines such as Google like to update the algorithms that index articles every so often, which often means their definition as to what is a good and high quality article varies over time. This does mean that the results you produce from SEO are never really permanent. For this reason, there is a risk that the work you have put into SEO could be all for nothing if an algorithm change to search engines does not go in your website’s favour.

#3 You Can’t Make Quick SEO Changes

As we all know, SEO is a long term solution to traffic generation. This means that once you start your SEO strategy, it is rather difficult making changes to it which will be noticeable in the short to even long long. For example, if your SEO strategy targeted certain keywords, you cannot all of a sudden change them keywords because of external factors.

A great example of this would be the car industry which is slowly seeing more and more electric cars. Organic search results for normal car manufacturers can’t suddenly change their SEO strategy to incorporate searching for electric cars and expect to see results immediately. Instead, a change of SEO strategy needs to do the change way before you want the change to occur. This means that by the time you want the change to happen, it will have changed since you changed your SEO strategy prematurely.
