Virtual reality three years ago was unheard of. The devices that tried to mimic virtual reality were heavy, had bad graphics and were through-the-roof in terms of pricing. This week, Sony have recently unveiled an addition to their virtual reality headset which will work with the PS4: the PS VR Aim Controller (yes, the name is that long). Here are a few reasons why you should start getting excited about VR and, particularly, VR with Sony, their PS4 and with the use of the PS VR Aim Controller.
#1 Motion Sensing at its Best
The PS VR Aim Controller is at the forefront of virtual technology. The device, in reality, is a plastic gun with a light on the front. However, in virtual reality, it can be any gun inside a game. Your arms move in VR exactly the same way they would move in reality. You can control your characters with analogue sticks and buttons on the gun controller and even aim down the sights in virtual reality! For games like Battlefield and Call of Duty, this is an epic breakthrough for virtual reality that will definitely put Microsoft’s Xbox system under severe pressure to release something similar.
#2 Easy to Hold and Universal
The PS VR Aim Controller is easy to hold and light in the hand – something that has not been thought about much, considering there are some gamers that can play video games hours upon end. What more, it does not matter if you are left handed or right handed – the VR aim controller has buttons to suit both right and left handed people.
#3 Games are Incorporating VR Aim Controller Already
But, by far the best thing about the Sony PS VR Aim Controller is the fact that the controller is not something that is going to come out in years time but more like months. At E3 Gaming Expo 2016, there were demos of the gun being used with Farpoint, which is to be released soon for the PS4. This is a technology that is very close to coming out to the public.
#4 Possibilities are Endless
The great thing about this gun controller by Sony is that it has a million and one different uses. COD and Battlefield players will love this. It could be used for sniping games and how about playing Nazi zombies with it! Instead of meleeing someone by pressing R3, you could physically do it! It seems that VR was missing the last jigsaw puzzle and the VR aim controller is that piece. VR is great. But, without any interaction, it is almost pointless – the Sony PS VR controller provides that interaction to make the virtual reality experience much closer to reality than could previously have been ever achieved for first person shooters.
